Gratitude

Discovering family history, whether mine or a client’s, consistently makes me grateful for what I have.   I am often amazed at what people two hundred years ago accomplished when they had so little.  Ancestors who moved hundreds of miles to a new place with very few people, and not only survived, but raised a family and prospered.  Enslaved people who started with nothing and within a dozen years owned a farm and were prospering.  People who left their homes and took the treacherous journey across the ocean to begin again, just so they could provide a better life for their children and grandchildren.

What do I do with this?

Learning what some of the family that came before me went through and accomplished does a lot for me.  Like my grandfather Joshua Seale, who moved to the Mississippi wilderness in 1812 with his wife and seven kids! It gives me a sense of pride that my family accomplished what it did.  It makes me grateful for the sacrifices they made, and motivates me to do better, especially considering all the advantages I have.  After all, they had no electricity, no running water, they didn’t even have GPS!

No matter where your family came from, what they went through to get here, or what they accomplished, learning your family’s history can make you a better you.  At Heroes of the Past, we can not only discover who came before you and when they lived, but also how they lived and what they may have accomplished.  Contact us today to begin your journey!
